UPI Payment Request Scam

Fraudsters send fake UPI collect requests pretending to be from legitimate businesses or government agencies. They call victims claiming a refund is pending and ask them to approve a "collect request" on their UPI app. Instead of receiving money, the victim ends up sending money to the scammer.

How it works:

• Scammer calls pretending to be from a bank, e-commerce site, or government office
• Claims you have a pending refund or cashback
• Sends a UPI collect request for the "refund amount"
• Victim approves the request thinking they will receive money
• Money gets debited from victim's account
